At St John’s we deliberately hold a variety of styles of worship, so that there is something for everyone. Our menu at the moment includes:

All Stars 9:15am in the Church Hall, St John’s Church Rd

Picture
All Stars is a new and very different style of church: short, interactive and designed for people of all ages but particularly for young families. We meet in St John’s Church Hall on Sunday mornings from 9.15 - 10.00 for worship, teaching, fun and donuts.

Morning Worship 9:15am at the Grace Taylor Hall

This short, informal service caters mainly for people from Broadmead Village. We both hear and discuss Christian teaching, but the emphasis is on friendship. The GTH congregation is under the care of Frances Morgan, one of our Readers. The third Sunday of each month is a service of Holy Communion.

Morning Worship 10:45am at St John’s Church Rd

Picture
This is currently our best-attended service, with relaxed Anglican worship, music and teaching. We teach thematically, seeking to apply the wisdom of the Bible to real-life situations we all face. There is currently no provision for children at this service, as All Stars provides a much more suitable environment for them to learn and grow. Before and after this service we serve tea and coffee (and occasional donuts). On the second and fifth Sundays of the month the services are Holy Communion.

Evening Worship 6:00pm in the Church Hall

This is our opportunity to go deeper as we take a slightly more intellectual approach to our study and teaching. There is less emphasis on singing and more on thinking about, applying and praying in our discoveries from the Bible. A brief opening section of worship leads into engagement with God’s Word and sometimes discussion about what we’re learning. Each month on the fourth Sunday we celebrate an informal Holy Communion.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 - 9:00am

A short service of Morning Prayer with Bible readings and prayers for the day ahead. In the upstairs lounge, St John’s Church Hall.

Wednesdays at 10.30am

There is a short, 30 minute service every Wednesday at 10.30am, in St. John’s Church. This is a chance for those who don’t work during the day to pause mid-week, and to come together to pray, to worship and to study the Bible. There is always an opportunity after the service for coffee and cake and a chance to chat. We celebrate Communion on the 1st Wednesday of each month.
