Coronavirus (COVID-19)

At St John's we take the health of our parishioners and visitors very seriously. Therefore in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic we have enacted a numbers of changes are our Church to limit the spread of the disease in line with Church of England guidelines.

If you need support in your local area, this is available though the Community Hub website.

In view of the Prime Minister’s announcement on the 19th December, the Church Wardens have released the following statement:

Dear brothers and sisters,

It is with much sadness that Linda and I have taken the decision to suspend church services with immediate effect following the Prime Minister's announcement of our move into tier 4.

This means tomorrow's services are cancelled, as are Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Although Boris Johnson has said that Christmas services would be allowed in tier 4, a number of our church family have let us know they would not attend or would be extremely reluctant to attend under the current circumstances; some of these people also play key roles in our service team.

We have also consulted the Area Dean on the matter.

We took this decision taking all these factors into account together with our sense of responsibility toward all of you, wanting to do all that we can to keep each other safe.

While I know this will be disappointing, I do hope you will understand the conclusions we have drawn.
